WDW Railroad & Train Station

Walt Disney's love for trains is shown in the 4 WDW authentic steam engine trains No. 1 Walter E. Disney, No. 2 Lilly Belle, No. 3 Roger E. Broggie and No. 4 Roy O. Disney.  The train circles the outside of the Magic Kingdom and has stops on Main Street U.S. A, Frontierland and Mickey's ToonTown Fair.  Travel time between each station is 6 or 7 minutes and the complete circle around the Magic Kingdom takes about 20 minutes.

MouseMom's Tips:

  • Watch the parades and fireworks above Main Street U.S.A. at the WDW Train Station.  This location is great for viewing both the parades and fireworks, but getting a good seat here requires getting there up to 2 hours early.  This location will get very crowded during the parade and fireworks.

  • The train will stop running before and during the parade and fireworks, remember this in your planning.

  • There are more things to see on the right side of the train, sit kids towards the right side, but not towards the outside.

  • You will have to leave your rental stroller or wheelchair at each train station and will receive a new one at the station in which you exit.  Take everything out of your rental stroller and wheelchair including your name tag before you load the train.

  • You will need to fold up your personal stroller before getting on the train.

  • The train is a great way for the younger or non thrill seeking members of the group to pass the time while waiting for other members of the group to ride rides like Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain. Only plan this if the standby line for these attractions are at least 45 minutes.

  • Sit toward the back of the train if someone in your group is sensitive to load noises.  The train whistle is louder near the front of the train.

  • Take a break from the crowds, ride the train during the afternoon when the crowds are large and lines are the longest.

  • You can ride the train until you are ready to exit, if you are taking a break and everyone is enjoying the ride, ride around the park again.  This will not be allowed during the fireworks or parade.

  • If you are leaving the park, take the train to the front of the park and you will not have to fight the crowds down Main Street U.S.A.

  • You can beat most of the crowd to Frontierland by riding the train to Frontierland first thing in the morning.  The train will start at the same time as the rope drops in Liberty Square and Adventureland.  Guests need to pass through one of these lands to get to Frontierland where Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain Railroad are located.

  • You can ride the train to Mickey's ToonTown Fair and take the path to Tomorrowland to ride Space Mountain.  Mickey's ToonTown Fair will open an hour after the park opens.

  • EVCs will have to transfer to ride the train.
